Explanation
The Transportation Division is responsible for maintaining the City's pavement marking system. A raised pavement marker project is needed to install reflective raised pavement markers on various roadways throughout the City. Every year, the Transportation Division prepares plans to install raised pavement markers on selected roadways as part of our pavement marking program. These markers are a highly effective treatment to help enhance the visibility of pavement markings during nighttime and bad weather conditions. This project has been prepared with two parts: Part 1 includes installation of markers on twelve pre-determined roadways and Part 2 consists of an "on-call" service for the installation of markers and retro-reflective lens replacement. The locations and estimated quantities associated with Part 2 will be provided to the Contractor at a later time in the form of "work orders".
This legislation authorizes the City to enter into a contract in the amount up to $229,230.00 for the Raised Pavement Markers - 2008 project and pay construction inspection costs up to $20,631.00. The estimated Notice to Proceed date is May 2008 with a contract duration of 365 days. This project was let by the Transportation Division and advertised in the Columbus City Bulletin.
