Title
To recognize and congratulate the Homes on the Hill Community Development Corporation on a decade of bringing help and hope to the Greater Hilltop.
Body
WHEREAS, the Homes on the Hill Community Development Corporation is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1993 to develop affordable housing in the Hilltop community of Columbus, and has an accomplished record of providing home rehabilitation and homeownership programs; and
WHEREAS, Homes on the Hill provides decent, affordable housing for low and moderate income individuals and families, and helps to strengthen the many neighborhoods of the Greater Hilltop and West Side community; and
WHEREAS, Homes on the Hill has provided homebuyer education to almost 1,000 individuals, has developed nearly 50 single family houses - by building some new and rehabbing many existing homes - which it has sold to low and moderate income individuals, and has leveraged nearly $2,500,000 in public and private funds to bring affordable housing development to the west side; and
WHEREAS, home ownership strengthens families, neighborhoods, and cities by giving residents a stake in the welfare of their communities. Owning a home raises self-esteem, instills a sense of pride and confidence, and encourages all to become actively involved in the growth and development of our community; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize and congratulate the hard work and dedication of the Homes on the Hill Community Development Corporation on a decade of bringing hope to the Greater Hilltop.
