Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into a contract for the Facilities Management Division with Air Force One for maintenance of variable speed drives located in various buildings managed by the Facilities Management Division. Variable speed drives help provide fresh air to buildings. Six companies expressed interest in a maintenance contract to repair variable speed drives. Formal competitive bids were opened on April 8, 2003, and only one company submitted a bid (0 MBE, 0 FBE) as follows:
Air Force One $27,300.
EMERGENCY Action is requested so that the maintenance agreement can take effect as soon as practical and especially in time for the 2003 cooling season.
Fiscal Impact: The Facilities Management Division spent $13,400.00 to repair variable speed drives in 2002. The increase in this year's contract is attributable to the addition of sixteen variable speed drives whose warranty expired in 2002. Funds are budgeted in the Facilities Management Division General Fund 2003 Budget for this service. Air Force One's contract compliance number is 311108651; expiration date December 18, 2004. The contract period shall be for one year and has four one-year renewal options.
