Explanation

Background:
This legislation will authorize the City Attorney to accept the Stalking and Cybercrime Grant #05-JAG-2010 from the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Office of Justice Programs, for the Stalking and Cybercrime investigation programs.

A stalking specialist, cyber crime investigator and project coordinator will work together with the Prosecution section of the City Attorney's Office to provide police agencies in Franklin County and the public with assistance in the areas of stalking and cyber crime and provide training in stalking identification and victim response.

Emergency action is requested to allow for the earliest possible commencement of the grant program.

Fiscal Impact:
There are no required matching funds for this grant award.

Body

WHEREAS, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Office of Justice Programs, has awarded the City of Columbus, City Attorney's Office, a grant in the amount of One Hundred Twenty-five Thousand Dollars for grant the Stalking and Cybercrime Grant 05-JAG-2010; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the daily operation of the City Attorney's Office in that it is necessary to immediately accept and appropriate the grant funds in order that the services supported may commence and for the preservation of the pubic health, peace, property, safety and welfare, and, now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS, OHIO
