To recognize and commend Reverend Fredrick Wiese on his retirement after more than thiry-eight years of faithful service in the ministry as well as his dedicated service to the greater community.
Explanation
WHEREAS, Reverend Fredrick Wiese received his Master of Sacred Theology and was ordained on July 11, 1965 at his home congregation, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, his service to his faith and community began at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Oakridge, Oregon as well as Pleasant Hill Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hill, Oregon and continued at both St. John the Devine Lutheran Church and Good Samaritan Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Wiese was installed as pastor of Gethsemane Lutheran Church on January 30, 1983, where for almost twenty-one years he blessed the congregation with his spiritual leadership, administration of the sacraments, teaching of youth and adults, community outreach, and pastoral care; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Wiese involved himself in the larger church through both the Northwest Clergy Cluster and Conference Council of the Southern Ohio Synod, and served on the Board of The Ohio State University Lutheran Chapel; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Wiese committed himself to building bridges to the community through collaborative efforts with other area churches and the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center, serving on the boards of Forum for Faith in the Workplace and Partnership for Citizenship and Character, and being an active member of the Worthington Pastors' Association, now; therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That it hereby recognizes and commends Reverend Fredrick Wiese for his 38 plus years of spiritual and community works, and wishes him well in his retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Fredrick Wiese.
