Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with CMH FASHION WEEK, INC dba the Columbus Fashion Council, a non-profit entity, in support of the organization’s Curvy Runway Show.

The Columbus Fashion Council is a non-profit organization seeking to expand the fashion economy in Central Ohio through a combination of industry growth initiatives, community organizer support, funding access opportunities, and creative program development.

FWCurve is a premier event on October 18th, 2024 during Fashion Week Columbus, organized by the Columbus Fashion Council, a renowned non-profit organization. This event celebrates the Plus Size Community, bringing together fashion enthusiasts, designers and community partners for a day of shopping, panels and entertainment.

FWC is a business platform and incubator for small businesses, and this was the first dedicated plus-sized show in the city of Columbus. The hope is to platform these designers and help them grow into businesses to storefronts in the city. In executing CMH Fashion Week and the Curvy Runway Show, the Columbus Fashion Council incurs expenses associated with marketing, event space rental, security, and other standard event expenses, a portion of which will be reimbursed by this funding in this ordinance.

Fiscal Impact: Funding is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.

Emergency action is requested in order to reimburse the Columbus Fashion Council for expenses incurred in executing Columbus Fashion Week and the Curvy Runway Show. The Columbus Fashion Council does not carry sufficient capital on an ongoing basis to await reimbursement on a non-emergency basis without risking disruptions in other programming.
