To Recognize the 23rd Annual OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon

WHEREAS, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon was founded in the City of Columbus in 2004 by M3S Sports, and has become the spring celebration of the healthy, active lifestyle with an expected 11,000 runners and walkers from over 47 states with multiple nations represented; and
WHEREAS, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has grown into one of the largest and most recognized half marathons in the United States. For the third straight year, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has earned the distinction of the second “Best Half Marathon in the country” in the 2026 USA Today Ten Best Readers’ Choice Awards; and
WHEREAS, in partnership with the national organization Black Girls RUN!, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon has again been selected as the 2026 National Meet Up, welcoming women from across the country to Columbus and advancing the mission of promoting women in endurance sports; and
WHEREAS, the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon is once again partnering with the Columbus Promise Program, Columbus City Schools and Columbus State Community College to bring the Columbus Promise 5K to the event; and
WHEREAS, the Capital City Half Marathon attracts an estimated 45,000 people to downtown Columbus and generates more than $6.5 Million in visitor spending in restaurants, retail, transportation, recreation and lodging; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council hereby thanks M3S Sports Race Director David Babner and his entire team for creating and growing this event in Columbus, joins all Columbus residents in celebrating the 22nd Annual Capital City Half Marathon, and wishes the thousands of runners and walkers the best of luck throughout their journey on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
