Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into contract for the Facilities Management Division with Field & Associates, Inc., in the amount of $478,700.00 for the renovation of the roof at 757 Carolyn Avenue. The current rubber roof is approximately fifteen years old and has been decaying. The renovation will consist of the replacement of the current roof with a granular-textured roof of modified bitumen asphalt. The building is currently occupied by the Development Department. The contractor has one hundred twenty days upon notification of the award of the contract to complete the project. The roof will include a two-year workmanship guarantee from the contractor and a thirty-year material and workmanship guarantee from the Manufacturer.

Formal proposals were solicited on June 10, 2005. Six firms submitted proposals on June 21, 2005 as follows: (*1 MBE, 0 FBE).

It is the recommendation of the Facilities Management Division to award this contract to the most responsive and responsible bidder, Field & Associates, Inc. Contract Compliance Number 31-0516698, exp. 09/28/2007.

Emergency action is requested so that the contractor will be able to complete this project during good weather.

Fiscal Impact: The Facilities Management Division budgeted $490,000.00 in the Capital Improvement Budget for this project. The cost of this contract is $478,700.00.
