Title

 

To honor and recognize the Southeast Lions for their efforts during the Columbus Summer Storm Damage

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions were established in 1940 and have been serving residents of City of Columbus, specifically in the Southeast area, for over 86 years; and

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions are committed to their mission of improving the quality of life through active and impactful community involvement, service, leadership, and funding; and

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions immediately stepped up to support Team Rubicon in their efforts to support residents affected by the severe storm damage which occurred in the City of Columbus on August 11, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions collected and raised $25,000 to feed Team Rubicon three meals a day, every single day for three weeks and;

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions cooked, organized, delivered meals and kept morale high to Team Rubicon members for the duration of their stay and;

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions supported a local restaurant that lost $1,200 in funds from the storm and related damage and;

WHEREAS, the dedication and commitment to the Southeast Lions mission allowed the community to be uplifted in time of recovery and;

WHEREAS, the Southeast Lions endeavors have enabled communities to recover, rebuild and thrive;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS hereby honors and recognizes the Southeast Lions for their efforts in the community during the severe storm damage in August of 2026.
