Title

Resolution expanding the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Board to oversee, prioritize, and guide implementation of the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus approved Resolution No. 0275X-2016 on November 23, 2016, adopting the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan, accepting its recommendations as a framework for policy and program development in the area of local food systems and re-affirming the City of Columbus’ commitment to working with public, private and community stakeholders to ensure a stronger, more resilient local food system in coordination with Franklin County through the Board of Commissioners and Franklin County Economic Development and Planning; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus recognizes the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Board was established by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners (through Resolution No. 0800-16 on November 22, 2016) to oversee, prioritize and guide implementation activities of the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved the expansion of the Local Food Board through Resolution No. 0533-24, and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Local Food Council is an independent advisory council that brings together people from across the food system with expertise, knowledge, and a particular interest in people and neighborhoods most affected by food system policies and programs; and
WHEREAS, the City, County, and the Local Food Board wish to expand the Local Food Board to include critical community voices and perspectives and ensure a committed focus on racial and health equity in all of the Local Food Board’s decision-making processes and Local Food Action Plan implementation work; and
WHEREAS, diversity, equity, and inclusion continue to be priorities for both the City and County; and
WHEREAS, the Local Food Board may consider recommendations from the Franklin County Local Food...
