Title

To honor and congratulate Mr. & Mrs. Charles Johnson who have been called to relocate to Cedar Avenue Church of God, Sharon, Pennsylvania and serve as the Pastor and First Lady.

Body

WHEREAS, Pastor Charles Johnson has served as the youth minister for the First Church of God for the past 7 years.  Under the leadership of Bishop Timothy J. Clarke, senior pastor, the youth ministry has grown from 100 young people to over 600 who meet weekly on Sundays and Wednesdays; and  

WHEREAS, Pastor Charles, as he is affectionately called, added tutoring, mentoring and summer day camp programs to the youth ministry;  and

WHEREAS, Crystal Thompson Johnson is Pastor Charles' wife, partner and soon to be "First Lady".  Sister Crystal is a life long member of First Church of God and has served the church in several administrative positions.

WHEREAS, Pastor Johnson and the First Lady of Cedar Avenue Church of God have responded to the great commandment "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That this Council does hereby honor and congratulate Mr. & Mrs. Charles Johnson for their many years of outstanding service to the church and our broader community on this 11^th day of June 2004.
