Explanation
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this ordinance is to amend the Columbus City Codes to defer the constitution of committees to the Chair of the Columbus LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission and the Commission's bylaws. This code change also clarifies the staffing duties of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion related to the Commission.

Title
To amend sections 179.03, 179.04 and 3902.02 and to repeal the existing versions of sections 179.03, 179.04, and 3902.02 of the Columbus City Codes to clarify the enabling provisions of the Columbus LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission. ($0.00)
Body
WHEREAS, Columbus City Council established the Columbus LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission through Ordinance 1412-2025; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Commission is to advise Council and the Mayor on LGBTQ+ matters and recommend legislation, policies, programs, procedures, and administrative actions that advance social, economic, and political equality for the LGBTQ+ community; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has established their own bylaws, in part, to govern how they structure their own committee assignments; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That sections 179.03, 179.04, and 3902.02 of the Columbus City Codes are hereby amended, per the attachments to this ordinance.
SECTION 2. That the existing version of sections 179.03, 179.04, and 3902.02 of the Columbus City Codes are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
