To Recognize and Celebrate the Pastoral Installation of Pastor Dr. John S. Little

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Columbus, Ohio has the authority to recognize occasions of outstanding significance; and

 

WHEREAS, Pastor John began his spiritual journey at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Donald J. Washington and received a Bachelor of Divinity from Trinity College, Masters of Divinity Degree from United Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Richmond Virginia Seminary; and

 

WHEREAS, after fulfilling his military service obligations, Pastor John answered his call to ministry by delivering his first sermon on March 18, 1990, leading to his further involvement in the Church and his ordination on January 8, 1995; and

WHEREAS,  on September 29, 2024, Pastor John accepted the call to serve as the sixth pastor of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church as the next chapter in his ministry, returning to the church where his spiritual journey began with a new wealth of experience and passion to lead the congregation forward; and

WHEREAS, Pastor John’s leadership extends beyond his local congregation with deep involvement in many organizations, including: President of the Baptist Pastors’ Conference of Columbus, a member of the Baptist Ministerial Alliance of Columbus, the Ohio Baptist General Convention, the National Baptist Convention, the NAACP, and the Rho Chi Sigma Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity; and

WHEREAS, Pastor John’s legacy is one of visionary leadership, faithful service, and a deep love for God’s people; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby declare the distinguished, Pastor Dr. John S. Little, be praised and recognized for his installation as Pastor and for being a steadfast leader.
