To recognize the work of The Impact Solar Initiative and celebrate the ribbon cutting of its newest solar project at Bridgeway Academy.


Body

WHEREAS, The Impact Solar Initiative is dedicated to generating low-cost, on-site renewable energy for nonprofit organizations in the Columbus and Central Ohio region; and

WHEREAS, The Impact Solar Initiative was created by The Columbus Partnership and Community Renewable Energy to increase the impact of renewable energy in Central Ohio, benefit the organizations serving our communities, build projects that prioritize energy equity, and propel Columbus toward its sustainability goals; and

WHEREAS, in 2025, The Impact Solar Initiative powered seven nonprofit organizations, two affordable housing communities, one library, and seven low-to-moderate income homeowners with solar energy; and

WHEREAS, on April 28, 2026, The Impact Solar Initiative celebrated the ribbon cutting of its newest solar project at Bridgeway Academy, marking another milestone accomplishment in the achievement of cleaner, more sustainable energy in our community; and

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus, through its Sustainable Columbus office, is committed to imparting equity and environmental justice through strong climate action, and is guided by the Columbus Climate Action Plan which has a community-wide goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050 and achieving a 45% reduction in emissions by 2030; and

WHEREAS, solar is a clean, renewable, and sustainable form of energy that decreases carbon emissions and reduces electricity costs for users, therefore helping to achieve the goals set forth in the Columbus Climate Action Plan; and

WHEREAS, this Council is grateful for community organizations and programs, such as The Impact Solar Initiative, which advocate for sustainable energy sources and empower nonprofit organizations and community members to install solar power; now, therefore
