Title
To honor and celebrate the life of William W. Williams.
Body
WHEREAS, William W. Williams was a father, soldier, and public servant in the city of Columbus, Ohio and throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, William W. Williams served our community as President of the Columbus Chapter of the NAACP, whose mission is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination-ideals Mr. Williams exemplified in his daily walk; and
WHEREAS, William W. Williams provided for his family by serving as an executive with the Westinghouse Corporation, an American company established in Central Bridge, New York in 1846 and by establishing a Senior Citizen's Center in Fountain Hills, Arizona; and
WHEREAS, William W. Williams served his country with valor, receiving the Purple Heart, a decoration awarded to members of the armed forces of the U.S. who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy; and
WHEREAS, William W. Williams, a humble man of heroic stature, will be greatly missed by his wife Mary Elizabeth, daughter Libby, son Klaus, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That William W. Williams, be honored and celebrated for a life of distinguished service to the Greater Columbus, Ohio Community and the United States of America.
