Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Board of Health and the Central Ohio Trauma System (COTS) have collaborated for years on the analysis of hospitalization and mortality data. COTS, an affiliate of the Columbus Medical Association, is a not-for-profit agency formed in 1998 with a mission to explore possible solutions to increase victim survival after a critical trauma event in central Ohio and to address public injury prevention education. Today, COTS is a significant force in the Central Ohio community around issues of trauma, emergency services and emergency preparedness.
The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the Board of Health to enter into a revenue contract with COTS for the preparation of a trauma report for an amount not to exceed $5,000. Under this revenue contract, the COTS will reimburse the Board of Health for the analysis of the 2009 / 2010 hospitalization and mortality data. The Board will also format and design the trauma report and provide a product to COTS that is print ready. The term of the contract is for the period of April 15, 2011 through September 1, 2011. Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Central Ohio Trauma System will reimburse the Board of Health for the services provided. The revenues from this contract will be deposited into the Health Special Revenue Fund.
