Explanation

BACKGROUND This ordinances authorizes the Public Service Director to extend contract EL 900614 for the Facilities Management Division with Environmental Services, Inc. for landscape, salting, and snow removal services at the following city-owned facilities: I-71 North Complex, Fire Training Academy, 1393 East Broad Street, and the Columbus Health Department. Council originally authorized this contract on June 21, 1999, by Ordinance No. 1455-99. Ordinance No. 1111-02 last renewed the contract for $20,000.00. Total modifications to this contract are $151,866. Total contract cost is $203,255. This modification for $35,000 will be for a period of six months and include landscape, snow removal and salting services for the remainder of 2003.

Fiscal Impact: The original contract in 1999 was for $51,389.00. Facilities Management funded $49,317.00 in the 2003 budget for these services. This contract modification is for $35,000.00. Environmental Management Services' contract compliance number is 311386050; expiration date is 08/09/2004.

Facilities Management spent $$51,389 in 1999; $38,279 in 2000, $58,587 in 2001, and $20,000 in 2002 for this contract.

Emergency action is required to ensure uninterrupted service to City owned facilities.
