Title
To recognize The Art of Living Foundation and its sister organization, The International Association for Human Values, for their efforts to promote human values and uplift those in need in Columbus and around the world on this the occasion of the their Silver Jubilee Celebration.
Body
WHEREAS, The Art of Living Foundation and its sister organization, The International Association for Human Values, is among the largest of United Nations' accredited organizations in the world, impacting more than 25 million people across the globe; and
WHEREAS, their commitment to promoting positive values and helping those in need has made a tremendous difference where victims of violence, natural disasters and armed conflicts have been in want of hope and healing during difficult times; and
WHEREAS, through creative partnerships and inspired programs, The Art of Living Foundation has positively impacted the Columbus community, and through their newest programs "Kids for Kids" and "Teens for Teens," seek to assist young people in developing values which contribute to their own well-being and commitment to public service; and
WHEREAS, on their 25th anniversary, the "Heroes of Humanity: A Celebration of Human Values" event held on March 15, 2007 recognizes the selfless contributions of Columbus-area residents who have worked to improve the lives of others, upholding His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's message of caring and service to individuals, communities and the world; and
WHEREAS, The Art of living Foundation should be lauded for its sponsorship of Human Values Week, March 25 - March 30, 2007 in the City of Columbus, and for its dedication to encouraging the citizens of our community to participate in public service and spiritual reflection; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
