Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Greater Linden Development Corporation (GLDC), whose services to the Linden neighborhood include supporting economic development efforts designed to grow businesses and jobs, has engaged in an upgrade of its informational technology system to enhance its ability to meet the needs of clients. GLDC raised $17,000 of project matching funds. Council deems it an appropriate use of $15,000 of its Job Growth fund monies to support the effort. This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into an agreement with the Greater Linden Development Corporation for that purpose.

Emergency action is requested to expedite GLDC efforts to upgrade services.

FISCAL IMPACT: $15,000 has been allocated from the Jobs Growth Fund for this initiative.
