Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to accept and appropriate $16,000.00 in grant funds from the Safe Kids Worldwide for the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety grant program for the period of January 1, 2025 through December 13, 2025.
The primary purpose of the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program is to provide coalitions and opportunity to apply for funds to hold monthly child passenger safety educational presentations and car seat check events for families in marginalized and underserved communities.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency to continue the support the purchasing of supplies for the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program grant does not generate revenue or require a City Match.
Title
To authorize and direct the Board of Health to accept a grant from the Safe Kids Worldwide in the amount of $16,000.00 for the purchase of supplies for the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program that provides child passenger safety resources in communities; to authorize the appropriation of $16,000.00 from the unappropriated balance of the Health Department Grants Fund; and to declare an emergency. WHEREAS, $16,000.00 in grant funds have been made available through the Safe Kids Worldwide for the purchase of supplies for the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program for the period of January 1, 2025 through December 13, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the Safe Kids Worldwide for the continued support of Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program; and,
WHEREAS, the City may receive additional funds awarded from the Safe Kids Worldwide for the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to allow the City Auditor to transfer appropriations between object classes for the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Program as needed upon request by the Columbus Public Health department; and,
