To recognize the Marion-Franklin Opportunity Center for providing educational opportunities.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Marion-Franklin Opportunity Center is located in former Berry Middle School, 2740 Lockbourne Rd. and provides educational opportunities for youth and adults, including GED classes, STNA classes and job readiness programs; and

 

WHEREAS, the center is a partnership between Columbus City Schools, Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Marion-Franklin Civic Association; and

 

WHEREAS, the educational classes at the center are offered to create a safe, productive and wholesome environment to empower the youth and young adults of the greater Marion-Franklin community; and

 

WHEREAS, they help individuals become positive, creative citizens and reach their full potential through personal and professional development; and

 

WHEREAS, City Council emphasizes the importance in making strategic investments in programs that will ultimately improve the quality of life within the City; and

 

WHEREAS, it supports the efforts of Columbus City School and the Marion-Franklin Civic Association for the resources needed towards the success of the Marion-Franklin Opportunity Center and the Marion-Franklin community; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

That this council does hereby recognize the Marion-Franklin Opportunity Center for providing educational opportunities
