Explanation
Title
To honor and recognize Patsy A. Thomas for her four years of dedicated service to the City of Columbus while serving as Councilmember.
Body
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas has been a loyal civil servant with the best interests of Columbus residents at the heart of her motivation; and
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas worked as an environmental prosecutor for six years in the City Attorney's Office in the Environmental Division and helped close 15 crack houses; and
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas tirelessly worked to improve the conditions of Columbus neighborhoods as Chair of Council's Public Utilities Committee and Administration Committee; and
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas has dedicated her life to participating in activities that are for the betterment of her fellow human beings, such as working with the Administration to toughen rules on absent landlords to take better care of their properties and expedite the demolition of abandoned, dilapidated houses that attract drug activities; and
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas initiated Project Second Chance, a collaborative effort to promote deployment of automated external defbrillation devices (AED's) and raise public awareness of heart disease; and
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas helped establish a special fund to help Columbus storm victims deal with the aftermath of flooding; and
WHEREAS, Patsy A. Thomas continues to serve the citizens of Columbus, Ohio in her new role as Judge in the Franklin County Municipal Court; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby proudly honor and recognize Patsy A. Thomas for her dedicated service to the Columbus City Council.
