To recognize and congratulate the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Choir for all their achievements and for their upcoming competitions.
 
 
Body
 
Whereas, the Fort Hayes High School Metropolitan Choir is a select group of students who have demonstrated skills and commitment to achieve high levels of musical excellence, and;
 
Whereas, the Fort Hayes High School Metropolitan Singers have been in existence for 13 years under the dedicated guidance of Kathy Wallace, and;
 
Whereas, the group was started to allow students to perform more challenging, high quality choral literature, and have received superior ratings in the top classification at both district and State of Ohio Music Educators Competitions, and;
 
Whereas, the Fort Hayes High School Metropolitan Singers have performed at the Capital University's Showcase of Excellence for Anton Armstrong and at Carnegie Hall as a showcase ensemble for Moses Hogan and the Ohio & Michigan Honor's Choir, and;
 
Whereas, in the summer of 2005, the Metropolitan Choir will be traveling to Europe to sing in the Tuscany Choral Festival and the Salzburg Festival, after being selected as one of only five choirs from the United States. They will be touring and singing in historic cathedrals and music halls throughout Italy and Austria, and;
 
Whereas the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Choir will be representing Fort Hayes, a gem of the Columbus Public School District, the City of Columbus, the State of Ohio, and the United States with a maturity and performance beyond most high school students.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we do hereby recognize and congratulate the Fort Hayes High School Metropolitan Singers.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to the Fort Hayes High School Metropolitan Choir as a token of our esteem.
