Explanation

This ordinance authorizes an appropriation in support of community grant making by Councilmember offices.

 

Emergency action is requested in order to immediately establish appropriations that can allow for the issuance of grants that are responsive to community needs. Councilmembers have received an extensive number of requests for support for community-based programming that is intended to fill current gaps, and there is a need to expedite the issuance of these grants to initiate and sustain community services.

 

Fiscal Impact: Funding in the amount of $450,000.00 is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.

                     

Title

To authorize the Auditor to appropriate funds within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund in support of community grant making, and to declare an emergency. ($450,000.00)

 

Body

WHEREAS, this ordinance appropriates funds within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund for the purpose of grant making in response to community needs; and

 

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily business of City Council in that it is immediately necessary to authorize an appropriation within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund in order to expedite the issuance of grants in response to immediate community needs; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

SECTION 1. That the Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to appropriate $450,000.00 within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund per the accounting codes in the attachment to this ordinance.

 

SECTION 2. That for reasons stated in the preamble hereto, which is hereby made a part hereof, this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, or ten days after passage if the Mayor neither approves nor vetoes the same.
