Explanation
BACKGROUND:
Need: An additional appropriation is needed for the purchase of specialized supplies for the FY2001 DNA - No Suspect Backlog Reduction Program. This National Institute of Justice (NIJ) program provides funding for the identification, processing and analysis of DNA from no suspect cases.
Fiscal Impact: There is no impact for the General Fund Account. All appropriated funds will be reimbursed through program funding.

To authorize an addtional appropriation of $25,000.00 from the unappropriated balance of the General Government Grant Fund to the Division of Police to cover the costs of specialized program supplies for the FY2001 DNA - No Suspect Backlog Reduction Program. ($25,000.00)

WHEREAS, The City of Columbus Division of Police has been awarded funding through the FY2001 DNA - No Suspect Backlog Reduction Program; and
WHEREAS, the program activities require the purchase of specialized supplies; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That from the unappropriated monies in the General Government Grant Fund and from all monies estimated to come into said fund from any and all sources and unappropriated for any other puposes during the program period the sum of $25,000.00 is appropriated as follows:

Section 2. That the monies appropriated in the foregoing Section 1 shall be paid upon order of the Director of Public Safety; and that no order shall be drawn or money paid except by voucher, the form of which shall be approved by the City Auditor.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
