To honor and recognize the Columbus Chamber Singers on their 20th Anniversary.
Body
WHEREAS, the Columbus Chamber Singers was founded in 1988 as a small, all-volunteer mixed chorus performing a varied repertoire of classical, religious, secular and popular music; and
WHEREAS, the chorus has been under the direction of Anne Hurst-Todt, a resident of Columbus, for the past 18 years, and is accompanied by Diane Slagle of London, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, , the Columbus Chamber Singers have performed with the Columbus Metropolitan Orchestra, the Upper Arlington Civic Orchestra, the Brass Band of Columbus, and the Gay Men's Chorus; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Chamber Singers traveled to Austria in 2001 to participate in the Innsbruck International Choral Festival and in the summer of 2003, performed three concerts in churches throughout Italy, including an afternoon mass in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican; and
WHEREAS, their concert season consists of formal concerts that are free to the public, along with community service engagement at public libraries, retirement homes and the Ronald McDonald House at Children's Hospital; and
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we applaud the Columbus Chamber Singers for 20 years of bringing choral music to the Columbus Community.
