Explanation
BACKGROUND:

Need: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Safety to modify a contract with ACS State & Local Solutions in the amount of $900,000.00 for billing and collection services as needed for the Division of Fire's Third Party EMS Reimbursement Program, initiated via Ordinance #1184-02, passed July 22, 2002.

Contract Compliance: 131996647

Emergency Designation: Emergency action is requested so that these services can continue uninterrupted through 2004.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Budgeted Amount: Funds are available through the Department of Public Safety's budget for FY2004; the Division of Fire's General Fund Budget contains funds specifically budgeted for this purpose.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus has implemented a Third Party EMS Reimbursement Program via ordinance 1184-02, passed July 22, 2002; and

WHEREAS, this modification will provide funding for the increase and extension of the present contract through it's expiration; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Division of Fire, Department of Public Safety in that it is immediately necessary to modify a contract ACS State & Local Solutions for billing and collection services as needed for the Division of Fire's Third Party EMS Reimbursement Program, thereby preserving the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS

Section 1. That the Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized to modify a contract between the City and ACS State & Local Solutions for billing and collection services as needed for the Division of Fire...
