Explanation

A stakeholder group was assembled made up of department staff, developers and home construction firms to review, delete and update antiquated sections (1131-1141) of the current sewer code. The code in its present form was repetitious in some sections and outdated as they referred to materials and methods no longer used or accepted by present day specifications. Other sections conflicted with the 1441 of the Building Code as it refers to licensing. Section 1141 was updated to change the way we accept sewers for City maintenance. Past sewer agreements became paper tigers as LLC; s and LTD's dissolved before the expiration of the sewer agreement leaving the City to expend funds and manpower to repair public sewers that were privately constructed.
