To recognize Dave Kaylor on the 25th Anniversary of his service of sharing news with the citizens of Columbus and to congratulate him on his retirement from a storied career at WBNS 10-TV Eyewitness News.
Body
WHEREAS, Dave Kaylor, a native of Upper Sandusky who graduated from The Ohio State University with two degrees in education and majors in Political Science and History, first served the Columbus community as a teacher for three years at Brookhaven High School; and
 
WHEREAS, Dave Kaylor's television career began in Lima, continued to Toledo, onto Nashville, and then returning to Columbus in 1980 to join WBNS-TV; and
 
WHEREAS, throughout his storied career, Dave Kaylor has covered political conventions, spoken to every President, traveled the country and the world, giving a Columbus perspective to national and international news, including the September 11th attacks, the Oklahoma City Bombing, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Senator John Glenn's historic return to space; and
 
WHEREAS, Dave Kaylor has received numerous awards for his community service, as a co-anchor for 10TV's annual food parade for Operation Feed; as a co-anchor for the Children's Miracle Network Telethon benefiting Columbus Children's Hospital; and as a board member of the Jazz Arts Group and the Heinzerling Foundation; and
 
WHEREAS, August 18th, 2005, will be honored as his 25th anniversary and his final broadcast as anchor of the 6:00 evening news, ending with his trademark line, "Take care and make it a good one"; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby recognize Dave Kaylor, a trusted source of news for the citizens of Columbus, and congratulate him on his retirement after 25 years of service to the community.
