Explanation

BACKGROUND: Franklin County Children Services contracts with the Columbus Health Department for the provision of nursing services to children by assigning a public health nurse to the FCCS Intake and Investigation Department and a public health nurse to serve children on a regional basis. The public health nurse performs health assessments of children, makes home visits with Intake staff, provides nursing consultation and training, interprets medical reports, and helps develop treatment plans for families referred to Franklin County Children Services. The regional nurse provides nursing visits for the four FCCS offices in Franklin County. This contract is for the period January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004.

Emergency action is required to avoid any delays in the payment of nursing services commencing in January for Franklin County Children Services.

FISCAL IMPACT: Under this contract, Franklin County Children Services will purchase the services of two public health nurses from the Columbus Health Department. Franklin County Children Services will reimburse the Health Department for the salary and fringe benefit costs of the nurses assigned to the Intake and Investigation Department and to function regionally. Funds received from this revenue contract will be deposited in the Health Department Grants Fund, Fund No. 251.
