To honor, recognize and celebrate the life of Robert Yance “Bob” Farrington Sr.

Body

WHEREAS, Robert Yance “Bob” Farrington Sr., known affectionately as “Fuzzy”, aged 88 of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 8, 2025; and

WHEREAS, born August 26, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Hugh and Grace Elizabeth Farrington; and

WHEREAS, an electrician by trade, Mr. Farrington was a pillar of trade and labor unions in the state of Ohio. He was a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local 683 starting in 1957, serving as Vice President from 1972-1975 and as a Business Agent from 1973-1974; and

WHEREAS, he also served as President of the Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Training Foundation, Executive Secretary Emeritus of the Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council, Vice President of the Ohio AFL-CIO, Chairman of the Construction Safety Committee of the National Safety Council, and President of the Board of the Columbus Public Library Board of Trustees, along with several other positions; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Farrington was a recipient of the Department of Labor-Bureau of Apprenticeship Training Award for Meritorious Service, the George Meany Award for Community Service, the Distinguished Service Award from the Ohio Council of Vocational Education, along with various other awards and recognitions; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Farrington is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Farrington of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Robert Yance (Nell) Farrington Jr. of South Carolina, and Christopher Patrick (Laura) Farrington of Columbus, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Joel (Ashlea), Lyndsey, Keeley, David, Anthony, Jennifer, Lisa, CJ, Mackenzie (Bradley), Destanie, and Logan; and sixteen great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, besides his parents, Mr. Farrington was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geneva B. “Genny” (Rodgers) Farrington (2012); son, Gregory Hugh Farrington; and twin brother, William Hugh F...
