Explanation

BACKGROUND: This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into three contracts for the Facilities Management Division for various renovations of overhead pedestrian walkways at 300 North High Street.

This ordinance authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into contract with Matrix Systems, Inc., in the amount of $104,738.00 for the installation of closed circuit television at the overhead pedestrian walkways at 300 North High Street. The installation will consist of fifteen new closed circuit television cameras within the walkways with a live video transmission to City Hall, a digital video recorder in City Hall, and five telephone system based Call for Assistance Stations throughout the walkways. All components include a two-year parts and labor warranty. The contractor has ninety days upon notification of the award of the contract to complete this project.

Formal proposals were solicited on June 28, 2004 and opened on July 13, 2004. One bid was received as follows (0 MBE, 0 FBE):

Matrix Systems, Inc. $104,738.00

It is the recommendation of the Facilities Management Division to award this contract to the most responsive and responsible bidder, Matrix Systems, Inc.

This ordinance also authorizes the Public Service Director to enter into contract with Matrix Systems, Inc., in the amount of $58,518.00 for the renovation of security access controls and alarm monitoring systems at the overhead pedestrian walkways at 300 North High Street. All components include a two-year parts and labor warranty. The contractor has ninety days upon notification of the award of the contract to complete this project.
