Explanation
Background: This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department to enter into contract with Accenture Infrastructure and Capital Projects Consulting, LLC for the Case Road Park Project. The contract amount is $189,000.00. An additional $11,000.00 is being authorized for interdepartmental inspections and fees for a total of $200,000.00 being authorized by this ordinance.
This contract will provide construction management and inspections services for the Case Road Park Project. These services will monitor daily construction activities, maintain the project schedule, and oversee the Construction Manager at Risk contract. Construction is scheduled to start in December of 2025 and is expected to be substantially completed by the end of 2026. This contract will ensure that the construction activities follow the plans and specifications as developed by the project design team.
In 2018, the Recreation and Parks Department acquired the former Ohio State University Agriculture Extension Sheep Farm at 2425 West Case Road. The surrounding neighborhoods have played an active role in supporting the development of this 59-acre site into a signature green space for a highly underserved area. The property is surrounded by over 1,000 households within a ten-minute walk and the Carriage Place Community Center is within 200 yards of this site.
The central core of the property will feature a community park with a balance of active and passive amenities. These amenities include sports fields, playgrounds, sports courts, and walking trails. There will also be naturalized areas with associated parking and other supporting infrastructure. A new forestry outpost will be built in the northeast corner of the site.
