Explanation

BACKGROUND: The purposes of this ordinance are to amend Ordinance 1269-2001 in which the City and the Village of Obetz entered into an Economic Development Agreement and to allow the Director of Development to enter into a First Amendment to the Economic Development Agreement.

In Ordinance 1269-2001, the City and the Village agreed to income tax revenue sharing from individuals employed within certain parcels of annexed property for a period of 50 years. In an effort to foster regional cooperation in matters of economic development, the City and the Village seek to cooperate in the attraction and retaining of a new Whirlpool facility. Emergency legislation is requested to allow the preliminary arts evaluation to be implemented and completed in a timely manner.

FISCAL IMPACT: No funding is required for this legislation.
