BACKGROUND:
Need: This legislation authorizes the sale of a 1993 International engine owned by the City of Columbus Fire Division, to the City of Jacksonville, Ohio. This medic, tagged as Brass Tag 09871, is of no further value to the City of Columbus Division of Fire.
While this medic has exceeded its useful life and is of no further use to the Division of Fire, the City of Jacksonville, Ohio has expressed an interest in purchasing this engine for emergency response.

To authorize and direct the Finance and Management Director to sell a 1993 International engine that is of no further value to the Division of Fire, to the City of Jacksonville, Ohio for the sum of $1.00, and to waive the provisions of the City Code relating to the sale of City-owned property. WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, Ohio has expressed a desire and need to purchase a 1993 International engine, tagged as Brass Tag 09871 that is of no further value to the Division of Fire; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety and the Division of Fire has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Columbus and the citizens of the central Ohio area to allow the purchase of this 1993 International engine for the sum of $1.00, by the City of Jacksonville, Ohio, for the preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety, and welfare; Now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS
Section 1. That the Director of Finance and Management be and is hereby authorized and directed to sell a 1993 International engine that is of no further value to the Division of Fire to the City of Jacksonville, Ohio for the sum of $1.00.
