To Celebrate Dorothy Alexander in Recognition of her Service to the City of Columbus and the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

WHEREAS, Dorothy Alexander has served on the board of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Committee since its inception, helping organize and grow one of the largest events dedicated to Dr. King; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy has held many roles in support of the MLK Breakfast throughout its storied history, including Head Hostess, Coordinator, Music Coordinator, and Vice President; and
WHEREAS, under her leadership, the MLK Breakfast has become a premier event attended by thousands of diverse attendees, united by a common vision of equality and justice; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy has been deeply engaged with the Columbus community throughout her career as a vocal music teacher at Columbus Public Schools (now Columbus City Schools) and as the Choir Director at Historic Shiloh Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, thanks to Dorothy’s talents and dedication to her community, Columbus is a more vibrant, engaging, and interesting place to live; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council celebrates Dorothy Alexander in recognition of her service to the City of Columbus and the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast.
