Explanation
BACKGROUND: This contract provides for RTU Replacement which includes the replacement of the installed remote terminal units at the distribution remote sites, installation of equipment for wireless communication to the remote sites, and conversion of all affected software to allow communication to the remote sites. Competitive bids were received and opened for this project at the office of the Director of Public Utilities on May 28, 2003. One (1) bid was received on this project. The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Telvent USA, Inc., 7000 A Hollister Road, Houston, Texas, 77040. Contract to be awarded to same.

CONTRACT COMPLIANCE NUMBER: 36-4334564

FISCAL IMPACT: Monies are being transferred to fund this project and the 2002 C.I.B is being modified to provide the necessary authority.

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Utilities did receive and open bids on May 28, 2003, for RTU Replacement, and

WHEREAS, a responsive and responsible bid has been received, and

WHEREAS, in the usual daily operation of the Division of Water, Department of Public Utilities, in that it is necessary to authorize the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a contract for RTU Replacement for the Division of Water for the preservation of public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, Therefore,
