Explanation
BACKGROUND: This ordinance transfers funds between the Department of Development and the Office of Education to provide funding for the Capital Kids After School Program activities. These funds were originally allocated to social service programs. The Franklin County Commissioners increased their funding to social service programs by $100,000 thus allowing these funds to be redirected to support the Capital Kids after School Program.
Capital Kids is a network of after school programs serving youth from grades K-12. The program included four (4) sites administered through the Mayor's Office of Education, as well as programs administered through community-based organizations and funded by the Mayor's Office of Education. During the 2007-08 academic the OOE funded 14 community-based after school programs and will fund 22 programs during the 2008-09 academic year.
FISCAL IMPACT: A transfer in the amount of $100,000 is requested from the Development Department, General Fund to the Office of Education, Mayor's Charitable Trust Fund.

To authorize and direct the transfer of $100,000 within the Neighborhood Services Division, General Fund and the subsequent transfer and appropriation to the Office of Education, Mayor's Charitable Trust Fund to support the Capital Kids After School Program. ($100,000.00)
