To Recognize and Celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the National Council of Negro Women

WHEREAS, the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) was founded in 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune to advocate for the rights and well-being of Black women, their families, and communities across the United States; and
WHEREAS, for 90 years, NCNW has served as a powerful voice and unifying force for African American women, leading efforts in education, economic empowerment, social justice, and health equity; and
WHEREAS, the NCNW has championed programs that uplift underserved communities through leadership development, civic engagement, and advocacy on issues of national and global importance; and
WHEREAS, through the tireless efforts of trailblazing women-past and present-the NCNW has strengthened families, expanded access to opportunity, and inspired future generations of changemakers; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Section of the NCNW continues to uphold the organization’s legacy of service and sisterhood, contributing meaningfully to the cultural, educational, and civic fabric of our city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus proudly joins in celebrating the 90th anniversary of the National Council of Negro Women and honors its enduring commitment to justice, equality, and empowerment; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council hereby recognizes and celebrates the 90th Anniversary of the National Council of Negro Women.
