To recognize and celebrate National Drive Electric Week 2023 in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Body

WHEREAS, National Drive Electric Week 2023, which takes place September 22nd through October 1st, celebrates the transition to hybrid and plug-in electric vehicles by drivers across the country; and

 

WHEREAS, fossil-fuel vehicles are responsible for 30% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and are a contributing factor to air pollution and climate change, threatening the health of our citizens and the sustainability of our planet; and

 

WHEREAS, the transportation sector needs support to move toward the adoption of clean energy technology, including plug-in electric vehicles, that reduces our dependence on foreign fuels and supports a healthy environment and economy; and

 

WHEREAS, Columbus, Ohio through the Columbus Climate Action Plan is dedicated to being a leader in the use of clean energy, establishing policies and programs that conserve energy, and promote sustainability; and

 

WHEREAS, September 22nd to October 1st, 2023 has been designated as National Drive Electric Week throughout the United States to educate our residents about the benefits of plug-in electric vehicles and to promote their adoption; and

 

WHEREAS, Drive Electric Columbus will host their 8th Annual National Drive Electric Week EVent on Saturday, September 30th from 12pm-4pm at BrewDog DogTap; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrate Drive Electric Week from September 22nd to October 1st, 2023 and encourages members of our community to attend the Drive Electric Columbus EVent on Saturday, September 30th.
