Explanation
Title
To recognize and honor the employees of Columbus Metropolitan Area Community Action Organization (CMACAO) for their outstanding commitment to providing professional service to the citizens of the City of Columbus.
Body
WHEREAS, CMACAO was incorporated in 1964 as a non-profit agency as a result of President Lyndon B. Johnson's Equal Opportunity Act of 1964; and
WHEREAS, in 1965, CMACAO employed 16 people to help indigent citizens to obtain anti-poverty services; and
WHEREAS, today, CMACAO's workforce has grown to well over 400; and
WHEREAS, CMACAO offers numerous programs for our community such as HEAD START, Home Weatherization Assistance, Employment and Training and Human Services; and
WHEREAS, CMACAO received the Ohio Action Best Practices Award on January 24, 2003 for its Professional Staff Development Conference; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus City Council would like to thank each and every one of you for your outstanding and continuous commitment to the citizens of our community through your dedication to proving exemplary service by participating in the 2nd Annual All Staff Professional Development Conference; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That special recognition is given to CMACAO and staff for their tireless commitment to citizens of the City of Columbus.
