Explanation
Background
The Ohio Department of Aging awarded funding under the various state grants to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging of the Recreation and Parks Department.
This legislation will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into eighteen (18) contracts for the continued operation of these programs in Central Ohio for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
Emergency action is requested for continuation of services to older adults beyond July 1, 2008.
Fiscal Impact
$560,000.00 is required from the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund to enter into said contracts.

To authorize and direct the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into eighteen (18) contracts for the provision of services to older adults in Central Ohio in connection with various state grant programs administered by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, to authorize the expenditure of $560,000.00 from the Recreation and Parks Grant Fund. and to declare an emergency. WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Aging has awarded state grant funds to the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging of the Recreation and Parks Department; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into said so there is no interruption of services to older adults; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into eighteen (18) contracts for the provision of services to older adults in Central Ohio for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 as follows:
