To honor Dr. George Miller and commemorate the legacy of Black Art Plus

Body

WHEREAS, after forty years of operation, Dr. George Miller closed the legendary Black Art Plus art gallery for the final time on September 20th, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Dr. George Miller has spent a lifetime preserving, protecting, and passing down the rich heritage found in African and African American artistry while cultivating a Columbus community that appreciates it; and

WHEREAS, Black Art Plus has served as a cultural, intellectual, and social landmark which appealed to those from all walks of life while still utilizing art as a powerful messenger; and

WHEREAS, Black Art Plus’ legacy will far outlast the building that once housed it; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That this council hereby honors Dr. George Miller and commemorates the legacy of Black Art Plus
