To Recognize and Celebrate the Ohioana Library and Tenth Annual Ohioana Book Festival.

WHEREAS, the Ohioana Library is celebrating their Tenth Annual Ohioana Book Festival on April 23rd, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the Ohioana Book Festival, which began in 2007, aims to celebrate the state’s authors and Ohio-themed books by connecting readers to their favorite Ohio authors while also encouraging discussion from all interested members in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Ohioana Book Festival has grown vastly since its inception ten years ago from ten to more than one hundred and twenty authors, from six hundred to more than three thousand five hundred people in attendance at the main event; and
WHEREAS, outreach programming has been expanded from one day to a week and the number of events more than doubled - with author visits to schools, libraries, Nationwide Children's Hospital, arts centers, and other venues around the City of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is proud to celebrate the achievements made by The Ohioana Library thus far and is excited to continue to supporting the Festival in future endeavors as The Ohioana Book Festival the single largest event in the Buckeye State that celebrates Ohio writers and literature; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby recognize and celebrate The Ohioana Book Festival on its Tenth Anniversary and the contributions to the City of Columbus by the Ohioana Library on April 23rd, 2016.
