Explanation

BACKGROUND:
To authorize the Director of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to enter into a grant agreement with Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) for the administration of the Columbus Commons Park Project in the amount of $1,000,000.00.

This is the last of two $1,000,000.00 agreements. Total Recreation and Parks commitment to this project is $2,000,000.00.The services provided by CDDC under the terms of the grant agreement for the Columbus Commons Park project will include planning, engineering, design, construction, and related services to continue developing the Columbus Commons downtown park.

Emergency Justification:
Emergency action is necessary to allow CDDC to administer the development of the Columbus Commons band shell and maintain the construction schedule for this project.

Fiscal Impact:
The expenditure of $1,000,000.00 is budgeted in the Recreation and Parks Voted Recreation and Parks Bond Fund.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a grant agreement with CDDC for the final grant payment for the administration of the Columbus Commons Park Project; and
