To Recognize the 2025 Old Lesbians for Organizing for Change (O.L.O.C.) National Gathering

WHEREAS, the 2025 Old Lesbians for Organizing for Change (O.L.O.C.) National Gathering is taking place in Columbus, Ohio, from August 20-24, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, the theme of this year’s gathering is "Prevailing Old Lesbians for Our Future," celebrating resilience and progress while fostering a sense of community; and,
WHEREAS, at the gathering, participants will have the opportunity to engage in insightful programs, hear from speakers, take part in workshops, enjoy entertainment, and connect with fellow advocates; and,
WHEREAS, O.L.O.C.’s mission is to combat ageism and stand in solidarity against all forms of oppression. As a cooperative feminist community, it embraces diversity and works tirelessly to promote justice and well-being for all old lesbians; and,
WHEREAS, O.L.O.C is also deeply committed to dismantling racial and class inequalities, advocating for inclusivity, and ensuring the voices of marginalized communities are heard; and,
WHEREAS, O.L.O.C Ohio’s chapter president, Pam Jackson, was an inaugural member of Age-Friendly Columbus and Franklin County’s Resident Council and a great voice for aging in the community; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS,
That this Council does hereby recognize the 2025 Old Lesbians for Organizing for Change National Gathering hosted in Columbus from August 20-24, 2025.
