Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Division of Water, Department of Public Utilities entered into a contract with C.F. Bird & R.J. Bull, Inc. for professional engineering services for the design of the Sunbury Road 12" Water Line Improvement on August 6, 2001 under the authority of Ordinance No. 0972-01 passed June 18, 2001.

EXPLANATION:
1. Amount of additional funds to be expended under this modification: $30,000.00
2. Reasons additional goods/services could not be foreseen initially: This modification provides for additional engineering fees associated with increasing the length of the new 12" water line. After the project was under design it was decided to increase the scope of the project by extending the length of the water line by approximately 1700'. The new starting point will be at Fifth Avenue and the water line will continue north in Sunbury Road approximately 10,000 feet.
3. Reasons other procurement processes are not used: The work under this contract modification is a continuation of work previously performed by the consulting engineer.
4. How cost of Modification was determined: The cost of the increased engineering fees was negotiated with the consultant and is documented by the consultant's quotation letter, and verified by the project engineer.
The original contract provided for Engineering Services for the design of the Sunbury Road 12" Water Line Improvement.
This modification provides for additional engineering fees associated with increasing in the length of the new water line.
FISCAL IMPACT: This project was included in the 2002 C.I.B., and funds are being transferred to provide the monies needed for this project.
