Explanation
BACKGROUND: Since 1974, the Columbus Health Department has provided primary health care services to the needy through contracts with community-based health centers. Since 1998, the Columbus Health Department has contracted with the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc. (CNHC), a not-for-profit corporation, to provide primary health care services to medically indigent patients at various neighborhood health centers. CNHC's Contract Compliance No. is 311533908. This ordinance will authorize a modification and increase of the current contract for the period through December 31, 2009. Contract EL009095 was established for $4,379,260. After the modification, CNHC will be funded for $4,879,260. This ordinance waives competitive bidding provisions of the City Codes.
Emergency action is requested to provide for this contract modification in order to ensure timely payments to the Contractor.
FISCAL IMPACT: The funds to modify and increase this contract are budgeted in the Health Special Revenue Fund, Fund 250.

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus seeks to ensure primary health care services through various neighborhood health centers; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to modify and increase a contract with Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, Inc. for primary health care services at their community based health centers; and,
