To recognize and congratulate the Columbus Police & Fire Pipes & Drums on their 10th Anniversary, and for their dedication to community service and sharing the spirit of their Irish ancestry.

 

 

 

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, in 1997, the Columbus Police & Fire Pipes & Drums was formed by a small contingent of Officers and Firefighters with the common interest of representing the City of Columbus with their music; and 

 

WHEREAS, all members are full time, active, Firefighters or Police Officers for Columbus, Ohio who daily demonstrate acts of courage and heroism; and

WHEREAS, the bagpipes have a martial tradition, but today answer not the call to war, but the call to honor, remember, memorialize, proclaim and to pay immortal tribute; and

WHEREAS, this talented band of sworn Columbus Police Officers and Firefighters use their stirring music of the pipes and drums to enhance solemn and festive occasions alike; and

 

WHEREAS, the Columbus Police & Fire Pipes & Drums have served as ambassadors of traditional Irish music at performances all over Ohio and the world; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

 

That this Council does hereby recognize the Columbus Police & Fire Pipes & Drums for their contributions to the Columbus community and the Irish culture on this their 10th Anniversary.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to the Columbus Police & Fire Pipes & Drums with our esteem.
