To Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Mozart’s Bakery and Event Space

WHEREAS, located on High Street, Mozart’s is a classic Clintonville bakery, café, and event space that prides itself on serving authentic Austrian food and supporting local fundraising and enrichment within their community; and

 

WHEREAS, Doris and Anand Saha moved to Columbus from Austria in 1995, hoping to bring a taste of Vienna to their new neighborhood of Clintonville. Drawing on years of experience as chefs in hotels and European restaurants, the Sahas opened Mozart’s Bakery and Piano Café at 2885 North High Street; and

 

WHEREAS, classical music has always been a central focus at Mozart’s-the café features live piano music and hosts an annual gala in celebration of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the restaurant’s inspiration; and

 

WHEREAS, Mozart’s has played an instrumental role in revitalizing local events, such as the annual Clintonville Fourth of July celebration and the Whetstone Park of Roses Concert Series; and

 

WHEREAS, the café supports many schools, nonprofits, and other community organizations both large and small, generating more than $750,000 for fundraising efforts over the past 30 years. The Sahas have also founded two nonprofits benefiting Clintonville youth: Million Lego for Kids and Young Mozart Scholars Fund; and

 

WHEREAS, the Sahas purchased the Beechwold in 2012 as the future home for Mozart’s, opening the new space on North High Street in July 2013; and

 

WHEREAS, in the past three decades, Mozart’s has grown from a small pastry shop to a full-fledged bakery, café, and event space hosting weddings, showers, fundraisers, memorials and so much more; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

that this Council celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Mozart’s Bakery and Event Space and the café’s many contributions to the people within its community.
